Creating a sustainable textile industry requires innovation at every stage of the value chain. From sourcing renewable raw materials to manufacturing high-performance products, collaboration is essential to accelerate Europe’s transition towards a circular bioeconomy.

That is why CELLFIL is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Bio-LUSH, a project dedicated to unlocking the potential of underutilized biomass resources for the production of sustainable cellulose-based materials. While the two projects address different challenges, they share a common vision: reducing dependence on fossil-based materials by developing circular, bio-based alternatives for the textile sector.

Complementary Approaches for a Circular Future

Bio-LUSH focuses on extracting high-quality cellulose fibers from diverse biomass sources, including hemp, nettle, forest residues, and seagrasses, using innovative and resource-efficient processing technologies. CELLFIL, meanwhile, is developing lyocell filaments derived from renewable and circular feedstocks, including cotton textile waste and orange peel residues. The project is demonstrating how sustainable cellulose-based materials can be transformed into high-performance textiles for applications ranging from apparel to automotive and technical sectors. Together, the projects represent complementary parts of the same sustainable value chain: from renewable biomass resources to advanced textile products.

Working Together for Greater Impact

As part of this collaboration, CELLFIL and Bio-LUSH will exchange knowledge, identify synergies, and support each other’s communication and dissemination activities. By working together, both projects aim to increase the visibility of innovative bio-based solutions and contribute to a stronger European ecosystem for sustainable textiles. Such collaborations are vital for accelerating the market uptake of circular materials and supporting Europe’s ambitions for a competitive and resource-efficient bioeconomy.

Looking Ahead

The transition towards sustainable textiles cannot be achieved by individual innovations alone. It requires cooperation across sectors, disciplines, and value chains. CELLFIL looks forward to collaborating with Bio-LUSH in the coming years and sharing insights, results, and opportunities with stakeholders across the bio-based and textile industries. Together, we are helping shape the future of circular, cellulose-based textiles in Europe.
